Generalist investor Navin Chaddha makes his 16th Midas List appearance this year, this year he moves up a rank to number As managing director at Mayfield, Chaddha leads the venture practice and has backed 18 companies that went on to go public, including Lyft, Poshmark and developer tools company HashiCorp.He leads Mayfield's "cognition-as-a-service" investing with a focus on the "cognitive plumbing" layers of middleware, machine learning and data as well as the computing hardware that supports them.To help fund AI companies in the seed stage and earlier, Mayfield will dedicate $250 million as a part of "AI Start," an initiative to provide mentorship to AI founders.Chaddha has begun investing in web3 applications, including blockchain software maker Alchemy, which has weathered the crypto shakeup, and cryptocurrency exchange FTX, which failed spectacularly.
