New York VC stalwart Fred Wilson co-led cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase's Series A funding round in 2013.While his firm Union Square Ventures sold more than one-quarter of its shares in the run-up to Coinbase's direct listing, it still owned more than 7% of Coinbase ahead of its April 2021 IPO.Wilson continues to be a public supporter of web3 startups, investing in Solana-based payments app Code in February 2024.Wilson, who was also an investor in Twitter, Etsy and MongoDB, has built a major following in startup circles for his longtime blog about venture and crypto, AVC.In May 2024, Wilson announced he was moving AVC onto a blockchain-based platform called Paragraph.
