Volpi, who joined Index in 2009, has had several billion-dollar hits, including Cockroach, Scale, Starburst, and data infrastructure company Confluent, which went public in June 2021.Prior to Index, Volpi was part of a team at Cisco that was responsible for acquiring more than 70 companies, including some multi-billion deals.He led Index's investment in AI robotics company Covariant. He was an early supporter of generative AI and sits on the board of large language model start and Index portfolio company, Cohere.He serves as a non-executive director on the board of Ferrari.Volpi grew up in Japan and speaks three languages: English, Japanese and Italian.
