Hamid is a partner at Kleiner Perkins.The entrepreneur has led investments in software giants including Slack, which was bought by Salesforce for $27.7 billion in 2021. He also bet on cloud-based management company Box, social networking platform Yammer, and web design tool Figma.He came to Kleiner Perkins in 2017 from venture capital firm Social Capital. Before that, he was a partner at U.S. Venture Partners and worked at semiconductor company Xilinx. Hamid was born in Pakistan, and first came to the U.S. for a national Future Business Leader of America competition in Washington D.C.He received his bachelor's in electrical engineering from Purdue University, his Master's from Stanford University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
