Ela is a serial tech entrepreneur and a Y Combinator alum (YC S12). She started her first company, Applicake, at the age of 21 in 2006. Applicake was a Ruby on Rails, and later iOS/Android development shop based in Krakow, Poland. Ela later co-founded Base CRM (acquired by Zendesk) and organized large events for software developers in Europe. She had been very active in the Polish & European tech scenes until moving permanently to the U.S. in 2014 after selling Applicake. While living in NYC, she became a Partner at a Polish VC fund, Innovation Nest. In 2015, together with a fellow YC alum, Seth, she co-founded Fifty Years, moved to San Francisco, and she hasn’t looked back since! When she's not talking to incredible entrepreneurs or helping portfolio companies, you'll find Ela biking, dancing, slack-lining, or skiing (rarely all at once).
