Tom founded Zimmerman Wealth Management (ZWM) after an extensive career at Mesirow Financial and Merrill Lynch. With over thirty years of experience as an investment advisor and more than twenty years as a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner, Tom’s vision for ZWM cultivated from the desire to create an independent financial planning and investment advisory firm that could provide objective advice, personalized solutions, and comprehensive financial planning to clients on a fee-only basis. In 2003, ZWM opened its doors to individuals, families, businesses, retirement plans, accountants, and attorneys to provide the standard of service Tom envisioned. Over the course of his career, Tom has been cited many times in prominent national publications as a top advisor in the country. Tom and his family are committed to several community organizations, including the Evanston Public Library at the Robert Crown Community Center, which recently opened in an underserved neighborhood. For several years, he served on the executive committee of the board of the Youth Jobs Center of Evanston. He is a member of The National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA) and the Financial Planning Association (FPA). Through these organizations, he has contributed his time by providing pro bono planning. Tom enjoys spending free time with his wife and son, following Chicago sports teams and enjoying food, wine and music with friends and family. Tom has been a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner since 1992.
